Midday Chabura came to exist after many baalei baatim in the USA lamented to Rav Shmuel Kiffel, Rosh Chabura of the Yerushalayim-based Chaburas Kinyan Masechta, that they are no longer able to actively participate in an iyun chabura like they did when they were in Yeshiva.
With the encouragement of some of these baalei batim, Rav Kiffel decided to create Midday Chabura, to allow anyone anywhere in the world to become an active participant of the Chaburas Kinyan Masechta.
Midday Chabura gives you the opportunity to join the Yerushalayim—based Chaburas Kinyan Masechta. You will learn the same mesechta that the chabura is learning, you will have access to the weekly maarei mekomos, you will have the option to learn b'chavrusa with avrechim who are in the chabura, and you will be able to participate in the live weekly chabura from the comfort of your home or office, each Monday at Noon, Eastern.
Each week, you will receive an email with the same maarei mekomos that Chaburas Kinyan Masechta is learning. You will then be able to learn these maarei mekomos on your own, with your own chavrusa, or with an avrech who is a member of the chabura.
Each Monday at Noon, Eastern, there will be a live chabura, given by Rav Kiffel, which will be followed by a Q&A session. Each chabura session will last about 30 minutes.
Midday Chabura is privileged to be guided by the esteemed Rosh Hakollel, HaRav Shmuel Kiffel Shlit”a. Born in America and raised in Chicago, Rav Kiffel learned in Yeshiva of Greater Washington under the guidance of Reb Ahron Lopiansky Shlita. There, Rav Kiffel developed a very close connection with Reb Ahron, from whom he gained much Torah knowledge. Thereafter, upon the behest of Reb Ahron, Rav Kiffel went to learn in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim under the leadership of HaGaon HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel Zt”l. In the Mir, he achieved proficiency in Halacha and received semicha from HaGaon HaRav Zalman Nechemya Goldberg Zt”l, son in law of Hagaon Harav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach ZT"l.
At that point in time, Reb Ahron Lopiansky and several Rebbeim in the Mir asked Rav Kiffel to start giving shiruim to Mir avreichim. Rav Kiffel acceded to the request and started Chaburas Kinyan Masechta in Yeshivas Mir. Rav Kiffel has been leading this chabura of avreichim for over ten years with much success, giving daily shiurim on more than four topics. Additionally, Rav Kiffel leads a night Kollel, during which he gives a nightly shiur on a variety of masechtos throughout shas.
Rav Kiffel is pleased to be in involved with multiple Torah U'Mesorah projects in Eretz Yisroel, specifically focusing on placing kollel families in out-of-town communities. Rav Kiffel also leads Chavrusa-Connect, a platform that allows Yerushalayim-based Mir avreichim to learn b’chavrusa with American elementary school children throughout the USA. Apart from his teachings Rav Kiffel is also known for his understanding of relationships, acute sensitivity to students’ individual needs, which allows him to be a trusted advisor to countless families in Eretz Yisroel.
But perhaps Rav Kiffel is best known for his genuine simchas hachaim and simchas hatorah, which allows him to imbue each of his many talmidim with a love of torah and mitzvos.
Each Monday at noon, eastern time, there will be a live zoom chabura. The chabura will last about 30-35 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session. The chabura will be given by Reb Shmuel Kiffel and will largely mirror the chabura he gives the avrechim who are members of Chaburas Kinyan Masechta.
With Midday Chabura, you have the option of learning one-on-one with an avrech at a time that is convenient for you, as often as you wish. Each one-on-one 40-minute chavrusa session is $30.00. Sessions are generally between 11 AM and 2 PM, Eastern time. You can use this time to learn whatever you wish, or to prepare the weekly maarei mekomos for the following Monday's chabura. There are many avrechim available to be your chavursa, depending on your personality and learning style.
You are of course welcome to join Midday Chabura for free, and not sign up for any chavrusa sessions.
Each week, well in advance of the chabura, you will receive an email with the maarei mekomos that you may want to prepare for the upcoming chabura. These are generally the same maarei mekoms that the Chaburas Kinyan Masechta is learning. You can prepare these maarei mekomos however you wish: On your own, with your own chavrusa, or one-on-one with a Chaburas Kinyan Masechta avrech.
Yes, with the caveat that our schedule mirrors that of the Mir Yerushalayim and most yeshivos. When it is bain hazmanim for them, it will also be bain hazmanim for Midday Chabura. However, if you wish to continue learning with your chavrusa one-on-one, that option is always available even during bain hazmanim.
IY"H Midday chabura will begin Nov. 3, 2024, with the first live Chabura being November 11, 2024 - the same day upon which the z'man begins in most yeshivos. You may of course sign up whenever you wish, even if it as after that date, at which time you will be provided all past and current maarie mekomos.
IY"H the chabura will be starting from the beginning of Mo'ed Katan.
Unfortunately, at this time, there is no option to save and archive past chaburos. IYH this is something we hope to be able to offer in the near future.
There is no charge for the weekly chabura or for the weekly maarei mekomos.
And you do not get auto-charged. You only get charged $30.00 per chavrusa session. Credit card payments are accepted, as are other methods of payment including check and Zelle.
